Thanks for the vindication . Ac is one of those things that I know enough about to be dangerous. The confidence can be low, but I am certainly happy with the results...Mark

It's a little of everything. Think I gave $10-$15 for it at a farm show. Only used it twice so far but worth every penny.

There's an 8-pt hole in the end opposite the 1/2 square drive that fits the 3/8 square drive.

Me want! Is it called a belt tensioner tool kit or something similar? Right now, I would have a very difficult time gettingthe belt off, if I can at all. I don't like that, it makes me feel helpless...Mark

Glad to help. It's probably the second-best tool investment I've made, behind the $45 wire strippers.

Ya gotta love Amazon. bought it and 2 days later it's on my porch. They have a huge distribution center near here. I just hope nothing happens between here and home, where I need to get the belt off. I would probably have to remove the shroud, which of course requires removing the fan and upper hose. I hope that doesn't happen, thanks again...Mark

Naw, with that tool you should be able to flip a new belt in there in about 3 minutes.

You get it past the fan by throwing a loop over a blade, then turning the fan. Make sure you're properly on all the sheaves, and not hooked over a bolt or off one groove. If you make that mistake, you'll have a narrower belt in about 30 seconds. The only one I've found to really pester me is the crank pulley.

Not in the slightest. No reason to be...

I truly respect your knowledge, opinion, and sexy blonde girlfriend that you're always parading around at the local pub during happy hour..

BTW...

Was she mad at you for teasing her the other day ?????

Your buddy went hysterical laughing after you told everybody that joke about the priest slipping on the banana peel on the ground .

How much are you guys paying for your R-134a?

Not that I would use it except for a job,
I checked and a 30# cylinder is $114.00 at my local HVAC supply house and has a standard Acme thread post valve.

Removing my serpentine belt is an easy task, don't know why you guys are having so much difficulty, my old tensioner had the 3/8" square drive so I used a short breaker bar and a section of EMT conduit to extend the handle,

When I replaced the tensioner the new one now has a 1/2" square drive, I found 1/2" breaker was too bulky to get into the space between the shroud yet the 3/8" had no problem, so here is what I did.

I cut me a section of 1/2" OD x3/8" ID square tubing to fit into the new tensioner, now the old 3/8" breaker fits inside the square adapter and unloads the tensioner with ease.

What is this breaker bar I speak of, you probably have one and didn't know what is was called.

The head if most standard ratchet wrenches are too bulky to get in next to the shroud.
Here take a look,

http://m.homedepot.com/p/Husky-3-8-i...BB10/202923416

I can remove my serpentine belt in less then 2 minuets.

When reinstalling the belt, be aware that it will try and hang on the lower timing case bolt, you need to twist the belt slightly to slip it onto the crank pulley.

This is what has worked for me.

I keep this small adapter in my ash tray for safe keeping.

Lat year this time it was stupid expensive, thinking of buying a couple or 3 for the future.........
