keyed power starting issue

ok, so im pulling my hair out trying to figure this out, i have searched and read through what i could find. when i try to start my truck i turn the key and everything works fine power wise but the truck will not turn over, i am not getting the signal to the small wire running to the starter. i know its not the starter cause i can turn the key on and jump the starter and it starts right up. im kinda thinking towards maybe a fuseable link just not sure which one to check? or if there could be another problem? with the key on everything works completely normal and the grid heater is cycling like normal.

bryson711 I had bad luck this morning on my 92. Turned on key and nothing. I have headlights, taillights, well everything but blinkers, no dash lights no buzzer and it's won't turn over. Mmmm maybe my relay went out. Any ideas anyone before I start on it? Thanks!!

That one's going to be a fuse or fusible link.

Simply's solution for bryson was a SWAG (Scientific Wild A*** Guess). Statistically the relay is most often the problem, but not always. Usually you have to actually get into the diagrams and understand them.

Smoking, JMartinwas right, look to the fusible links on the drivers side fender well under the hood hinge
I believe the ignition circuit is the Red/Black trace.
Might be a good time to go ahead and replace all if them with in-line fuses if the apropriate size

There's 2 fusible links that go to the ignition switch, both 20G, 1 circuit color is black, the other red. The red one drives the engine stuff, as well as the turn signals etc. The black one runs the power windows and the heater. In the 1993 manual, the fusible links are on page 8W42-42, and the ignition switch on 8W-51.

If the red wire to the ignition switch has power, the switch itself is bad.

Look for the "duckfoot" on the fender well with one big loom going in and a bunch of little wires coming out. Man I hate fusable links...

Grrrr I had it all going everything working ect. Drove around yesterday about maybe 100 miles and all looking/working great. Wife goes out this morning to move the ole ride and the battery is stone cold dead. Calls me and says now what? Told her to turn on headlights and nothing. Puts charger on it and sure enough dead, new battery 5 days ago! I can feel the aggravation some go thru on these ole trucks. Ding dang more work to be done when I get back home!! I'll get it right someday! May have to wire it to be a completely a manually free truck! Oh well I won't be bored when I get home!!

I had the same problem, I changed the ignition switch (no joy), changed the relay (no joy), changed the Neutral safety switch and that fixed it.

now it is on to the TPS, cruise and horn as well as the idle...
