Oil explosion
Well, most of my posts are what not to do, which I suppose is useful, so here is another installment of Mark's follys:
Tapped the front valve cover with a giant an fitting about 5 years ago and installed a fancy breather catch can. It worked well for a while, but all of the sudden the can was full and it spit oil all over my engine. I think my blow is increasing and because I (and here is the stupid part) didn't put in a oil baffle so I think oil is just blowing straight out into the can.
The lesson, extra crank case vent, good... not putting a baffle, bad.

I learned that mistake on a new motor with an aftermarket billet tappet cover with no baffles. It's pretty annoying when you have an oil slick under your truck everywhere you go when you know it doesn't have much blowby. The oil would run down the inside of the tappet cover from the valve spring area and go straight out the hole and down the hose to the ground.

When it slows down and starts burning a bunch of motor oil.
I just GoPro'd under the hood under normal acceleration and there wasn't any noticeable blow by.
I think the problem is I drive 80 with my hair on fire, and frequently wrap the pee out of it because that is the way I have it setup (screams).
Likely at high RPM the valve train is slinging a lot of oil that is being forced out the breather.

I have a Pro Stock vacuum vane pump that I have been considering putting on there along with a vacuum break to limit the negative pressure, but I have to install a baffle first or I will suck all the oil out of the engine!
ive seen some 3rd gens that had a catch bottle next to ps pump at t-cover, plumbed from the lifter box, and just filthy from overblow/ignorance, not like a lot of big rigs don't vent to the road. on race motors ive seen elevated boxes that send vapor uphill to another catch box to collect liquid and vent excess even higher without loss....

Mine has worked pretty well for the most part, has a K&N filter on the top and drain on the bottom, but it got full all of the sudden and sprayed oil all over everything.
I should have made a baffle today because it was fairly warm, arctic air coming in tonight!
