Oil all over the engine...help

Guys I have to use the manual shut down on my pump, and when I got home this evening there is oil all over the engine! Looks to be come from somewhere around the radiator....intercooler??? I haven't a clue. Any ideas?

One thing I will note the truck has been running hotter than normal....I actually thought it was the fan because when the temp reads hot, and you shut down the engine the fan will spin freely. Anyway I need some of your good help.

Thanks, Tony

Hopefully you didn't have a timing case bolt rattle out causing what would be similar to a KDP failure.

Mine sprung a leak in the vacuum pump housing. It is engine oil pressure lubed. There is an o-ring in the pump split that breaks. It can make quite the mess.

The fan blew oil all over everything. Your best bet is to clean everything up and then idle the truck while you hunt the leak.

Well I've been out trying to see what I can find out. It looks to me like that the fan is pulling oil thru the radiator then onto the engine. I think it is coming from the inter cooler! Is this even possible? Could someone tell me what the intercooler does? I know I know I should know....I'm also going to search.

Thanks, Guys

The vacuum pump will make quite the mess. Trust me, I know. I had my entire engine covered and even oil coming out the sides of the hood down the front fenders.

Yes I've looked at that.....The problem is there is more oil to the front of the engine than anywhere else. I'm still looking.

Check your automatic transmission fluid level.

The intercooler cools the air coming out of your turbo before it goes into the intake. Shouldn't be anything in there except air.
You could check the Intercooler pipe coming out of the turbo. Take off the air intake tube first, and look at your compresser wheel, then take the clamp off your intercooler pipe and look for oil in your pipe. If you have oil in there that means 2 things, 1 your turbo has crapped out, and 2 your intercooler has a serious leak.

Is your truck smoking alot?

Thanks again. I figured out the intercooler part. I also took the a/c condensor off, and there is no oil on the intercooler. The oil is just on the fan side of the radiator. One thing I also noticed is actually the front of the engine is relatively free of excess oil! I think maybe it could be the tranny lines going into the radiator. I'll keep looking.

update

I pulled the rad. and found a somewhat small tranny cooler setting on top of the intercooler I think it has blown a hole somewhere because that is the only place I can find it could be leaking from. Has anyone ever experienced your tranny cooler going bad?

Thanks, Tony

Sounds like the PO somewhat improperly installed an auxiliary tranny cooler. Not that it's a bad idea, but it needs to be pretty good sized. Well-mounted and not leaking helps alot, too.

That's what I thought at first, but it looks factory to me has a mopar label and part number.....far as I can tell. It bolts on top of the inter cooler on the drivers side. If I knew how to post pictures I would.

Thanks, guys

That's exactly why I previously said:

My truck has a power steering fluid cooler mounted on the radiator. If there's fluid all over your engine compartment the first thing you should do is check your fluid levels!
