NV4500 in 1st gen according to "Four Wheeler" ...

Recvd my Dec issue yesterday afternoon & p54 states that the NV4500 replaced the Getrag in mid-'91. Any chance that some later 1st gens did in fact come equipped with the NV4500 (I can dream)?

Gassers had the NV4500, but I've never heard of a pre-'94 diesel with a NV4500 from the factory.

The NV4500 was not available with the diesel engine until '94.

Of course, it is funny how we all (those of us with GETRAGS) want nv4500's, but alot of the 2nd gen guys hate the transmission . . .

I love my NV4500. I just wish it was the tranny with the short shifter like in the 98- trucks
