Noxudol 3101 or Silent Running Vibration Dampening Paint

Has anyone ever used this stuff for sound deadening in their truck?

Here's one of the reviews off a boat: I ordered 3 gallons of your sound-reducing paint, for use on my sons' Sabalo 32 boat. Boat has a Cummins 260 Turbo diesel engine, and it was LOUD.

After applying 2 coats of your paint to inside of engine box, and undersides of adjacent areas, engine noise was reduced by about 50%. I took one trip on the boat before application, and normal conversation was not possible. Now it is!!

The video is pretty impressive.

I have used silent running in my '01 QC. I used quite a bit more than two coats, although I applied it with a brush rather than a sprayer. Ended up using six gallons inside the cab without removing the dash (project for next summer). Sound levels were reduced in the cab from 84 Db at WOT to 74 Db at Wot. I wouldn't say it cut the noise in half, but it did help tremendously. Now to get the firewall taken care of as the noise in the cab is all engine noise at this point...
It was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it to me; and I do think my results are as good as or better than they would have been with Dynamat or the likes.

Sounds like something to spray behind the underhood mat.

I'll be doing that as well as the firewall next summer, but I am a bit concerned about the extra weight on the hood...

FYI. 6db reduction is 1/2 the original sound.

Decibels are based on a logarithmic scale. I think a 1 to 10 ratio?? If you went from 84db to 74db. You decreased your sound by alot. It would probally be minimal just listening by ear though.

hey-Hey!!!,
10 dB reduction is half as loud. 3 dB is just enough to hear and takes half the power...6 dB is a 4:1 reduction in power.
cheers,
Douglas

Just an update: I decided to go with Second Skin Audio Spectrum http://secondskinaudio.com/index.php...pectrum-detail at $59.00 a gallon.

We are working with a Ramcharger so I used 2 gallons, one in the back 2/3rds and the other in the front, a little heavier.

To get an idea of what I had, a buddy and I took it out on the highway at 55 and got a reading of 95-99db between the front seats, after the coating, and 60 days to cure it (not their recommendation, just took us that long to do it) we got a reduction to 78-80db in the same location. So, it does something.

I am still not happy, so I am thinking I will put down a layer of Dynamat before a new jute backed carpet will go in.

I still need something to kill off the noise that comes in at the 4x4 shifter. I am also looking at some undercoating to help.

I have purchased an FTE Diesel resonator (the big one) to cut it a little more, but that is not in yet.

If anyone has any other ideas please let me know, the goal is to get it as quiet as the wifes 1996 2500.
