New truck Lots of questions!

Ok guys I just got back from puting a down payment on a truck. It's a 1992 350 4x4 extcab. New paint, 1400 in a new transmission and 114k on the truck. I gave the guy $500 hold pay until I can get to the bank on manday. He wanted 8500 and I talked him down to 8k. Is this a good deal? It is very well taken care of and drives nice. He has done a few things to it. New white paint with a grey strip on the bottom. All light changed to LED, Lots of new lights, 5'' exaust with chrome 5"turn down. No engine mods but I will do that. Rockers were replace when truck was painted. Dimond plate mud flaps and tinted windows. Plus new tires all around

Few things I want to know is first if I got a good deal. Second he saifd that he got 16 mpg. Does this sound right. It seems a bit low for what I have heard.

Second, I want to bobm it out and here is a list of what I want to do. I will turn up the pump and grrind the fuel scew soon.
1 BHAF
2. 16 cm turbo housing
3. POD's or 370 injectors
4. 3200 gov spring

Anything else i am forgetting or should change around?
Here is a link to the add, tell me what you think.

Nice find! If the body work was done as thouroghly (sp?) as the (prevoius) owner states, I'd say it's worth every penny of that 8k. If the picture in the ad does it justice, I'd say you're gonna be stylin' right outta the gate 16mpg sounds right for a stock truck of that weight. A w-350 club cab is as big as they came. A little tweeking will probably put you closer to 18. Your first mods, of course, will be gauges, right? BHAF=good. POD's are a good idea, but you may want to fortify your fresh tranny bofor you really put the fuel to it. For now, congrats on the new ride...and welcome to the club!

As was said, that seems to be the going rate. You know the trans is fresh, and the big exhaust will be a help after you slide further down the slippery slope of more power.

16 mpg sounds right in town, a little low on the highway. Mine never did better than 18.5 mpg at 70 mph. Advancing the timing may help, but until you swap out that 21 cm turbine housing you should leave the timing alone. The retarded timing is the only thing spooling that waste of cast iron.

Do the governor spring before the POD's. If the mileage concerns you do not get POD's, you will lose about 2 mpg in town.
