So if you don't mind me asking, roughly how much does a head with studs and o-rings set you back?

That's a piece of the puzzle I tend to forget when I'm thinking about high power levels.

And are you going to do the porting yourself?

He's doing the porting himself.

Last I checked the o-ringing was done for 300 bucks.

Head was a re-man that was gotten for a fair price. (I've seen prices on heads around 650 bucks)

I know a guy that does porting for 100 bucks a hole. Not the cheapest person... but the head flows like no other.

I'll let Tim chime in here and fill ya in on the details.

Hey timb
You ought to do all your porting and polishing first. I saved the O-ringing for last. Those orings can be damaged real easy.
Porting makes a big mess. after that you can clean it up and do all your other machine work.

Begle, I picked the head up for 350. It was remaned just before they wrecked the truck. it is real clean.Like Mark said, the ring job is 300, and the stud kit is around 425. and head gasket is about 100. Frostie, I hope I dont screw up the ring job, but I only have a small window of time to work with. the head has to go 200 miles north for the rings, and it leaves tuesday morning.so I am planning on bolting a cover over the rings while I do the porting. we go to Vancouver Wa. for the dyno on the 15th of april. let me know if you think the cover will protect the rings.

Thank's Tim
