New conversion/restoration project
New conversion/restoration project
Well I picked up my new conversion project on Sunday. When friend's wife saw it she said "it's Mater!" The truck is a 1952 Studebaker 2-ton cab and chassis. The truck has a Ford (352 i think) in it right now, with a 4 speed tranny and a 2 speed rear axle. I was thinking of converting it to 4x4 with a d70 and d60 that I already have. Please give you input and I will try to get some pics up soon.
sounds cool, my first rig was a 1949 Studebaker 3/4 ton with an 8 foot narrow box, bud split rims, 5.8? gears, 4 speed no-sincro-crach-box tranny, and champion engine. Toasted a few ex. valves trying to go 50 mph. Gotta love the C-cabs. Good luck!
Sorry, no pictures just yet. I will post soon. I have a new question though. This truck has some pretty big tires (8.50x20) with 20 inch rims (5 lug) If I swapped to the d70/d60 setup so you think 19.5s would look best or are there other options that will keep it from looking too goofy?
DUDE!!! That is so cool. I thought that would be an awsome conversion myself. The bigger studies are getting very hard to find. My other ideal conversion would to be the late 70's model Dodge D-5,6,and 700 medium duty trucks. I have located a D-500 real close to my house that is very clean with a flatbed on it. My problem is i don't have a shop to work in. It would be difficult to do a project sitting out in the driveway. I have posted this site on here before but i will do it again due to it being a great tribute to our trucks. it's sweptline.com ,click on medium heavy duty trucks and read about these work horses. Then go to middle of page and check out olddodgetrucks.com ( a link ). The sponsor of this truck is a fellow named Kyle Youngblood. They just updated site. Good luck on the studie and take lots of pix if you do it. Augie Dog
