New 1st Gen Owner!

Hello everyone! Just want start by saying this seems like a great forum and resource for diesel owners. Been lurking around reading up for about a month or so, while looking for a truck. I finally found one, and will be going out to pick it up Saturday. I did not ask your opinions before, because I figured you'd all probably tell me what I already know - I paid too much. But here it is, tell me what you think:

Welcom to DTR--glad to have you along! The only person who can say weather or not you paid to much is you, so don't worry about what we think! That's a mighty clean CTD--looks like she'll treat you right.
Greg

Anybody else think that's a recall pump under that hood?

K&N Air Filter

Beautiful truck though. When I get some money set aside I wouldn't mind finding one like that.

Darn, and I thought the K&N was a "good" thing. OK, now I'm scared - what's a "recall pump?"

Do you mean recon? It looks like a new pump, orginal should be painted black like the rest of the engine. Not a big deal though.

It is a very nice looking truck, I wish mine were that nice.

That's actually nothing to be scared of. There was a run of pumps that were recalled and the owner got a new one on Dodges' dime. Since your pump has no black paint on it, I'm thinking one of the previous owners might have had the recall done--which is a good thing That pump probably has less that the paltry few miles on the rest of the truck---good news for you! My stocker made it 380,000, so you better get motoring if you wanna wear that one out

Holy fishpaste Barnacle Boy! That thing is a museum piece, VERY VERY nice. I watched that auction and admired it instantly, best of luck with it. And welcome to the DTR, GREAT folks around here.

Wow, I'd be afraid to drive it! That is a real nice truck. Like Greg said, if it was worth it to you then you didn't overpay. Congrats on a real nice find. I can't get over the original paint on the back axle, that truck is really well preserved.

Nothing like starting out right with a NICE truck! Congrats!! I bet you can hardly wait to go and pick her up. I bought mine new (in 1993 for $18800) for a little more then you just paid for yours but I'm sure with inflation factored in, the devaluation of the dollar, the price of gold, market swings, etc, etc YOU GOT AN ABOVE AVERAGE TRUCK for an above average price....and I see nothing wrong with that from here!! You did good....

Nice ride, it will be a long time before we see another truck like that sell. Who knows keep the rig for another ten years then sell it at Barret-Jackson and retire. I'd have no second thoughts about buying it, it's only money right???
