Looks are deceiving. It was repainted ages ago and at that time they bondoed the rust. It needs body mounts, rockers, rear quarter repair and rear floor. When the '90 gets dismantled I will cut the floor out of the bed to replace the rear floor of the Scout. I have seen pictures and a youtube video of 6BT powered Scouts. It's a tight fit! No room for a belt driven fan.

Here's the youtube video. Mine is the full top Traveler. I want to build it into an 'expedition' rig for exploring/camping.
That's probably enough Scout talk!

[QUOTE=maybe368;3352539... I really like this forum because there are no "flamers" or "flaming" and it seems that everyone knows your name, sorry Cheers. Also, I may be the only out of the closet liberal here and nobody seems to care, except maybe in the politics forum, where I don't dare to go (much)...Mark[/QUOTE]
Well put and I agree 100%.

Ramcharger and Scout weigh about the same, with the Scout probably a little heavier from what I've read. Wheelbase on the RC is 106" and on the Scout Traveler/Terra it's 118". So the Scout is actually a better candidate for a 6bt except that it isn't a bolt in swap! 4bt would be nice, but they cost more than the donor truck for just an engine. That new Cummins 2.8 would be sweet, it's mucho 'spensivo for this old nailpounder.

I am pecking away at my current main project, my '78 2wd RC. I am getting the welding and such done done while it is still nice enough to hit it with a little paint before the winter weather hits VT.
Then the re assembly, re power, re wire, re dash, re interior ETC process can start over the winter.

- Narrowed the new axle 2.5" per side to arrive at the same, OEM axle footprint.
- Moved the leaf-spring perches in 5/16", to have the springs fit proper. This included new 2.5" perches.
- I'm using the original/OEM proportioning-valve, but with a 1984 Dodge B250/350 van master-cylinder as it has a notably larger piston, to move more fluid for the same pedal-stroke.
- I've a 10psi residual-pressure-valve in the rear brake line to help reduce the applied pedal-stroke.
- I took some 2001 parking-brake cables and shortened them to fit and changed the pedal-end to fit our equalizing-bar at the frame of the truck.
- The new axle includes a Detroit Locker, 35-spline Chromalloy axle-shafts, stainless steel brake plumbing, . . .
Custom Suncoast 48 triple-disc converter controlled by a custom 47RH valve-body.
