Negative arch springs
 

At the risk of getting thrown off the site...I need to replace the front springs on my 89 badly. The factory springs are pretty much flat and the truck hits hard in the front. I want to keep the carrying capacity and LOWER it a couple of inches :o. Couldn't a guy use a negative arch spring? Don't alot of Fords use them? Anyone know of anyone using them?

There's no room to drop it any further, the axle will hit the frame.

I've seen quite a few W series trucks with negative arch front springs - if you want 'em just keep driving it. [laugh]

would`nt a neg arch just make this worse? IMO you either need a 2X or accept the "gift" that is the 1st Gen 4X front suspension [laugh]. Only way around it I think is something like a Kelderman setup...but mega $$$:o

I wouldn't say Kelderman is the only way. Actually I wouldn't even consider it an option.

Why "lower" anyway?

I don't use it off road so don't really need ground clearance. Family has a hard time crawling in. I wouldn't say it is much of a working suspension/one with travel, so it would be nice to get rid of some of that space in the wheel well. The problem with letting gravity continue it's job is that it will still be worn out and hit hard.:(
