Reverse steering gear

That is the only way to correctly correct the issue . It is well worth the effort it requires to complete the swap . My suggestion is similar to retirement : I would advise anyone that can do it , do it and never look back.

I concur

Best mod for these trucks.

And sad to think it came standard on them prior to 76.

You're such a kidding around kind of guy...

First you say that you don't know what you're doing, then you say we want to see you dead.

Oh, golly gee willakers, paw ! No body wants you dead ! That would be oh so sad to lose another 1st genner to the sickle bearing fella. Maybe Bruce Genner, but not another 1st genner. No one would miss him.

Again, pictures to help you get the jist of it.

It is a pretty easy swap as far as swaps go. Really easy if you have the stock vacuum brake booster and only a little harder if you have a hydroboost.
With the HB you have to make up a hard line in the pressure side of the steering gear.

Thanks Mark, Mark here. Do you know what a dog with a cleft palate says? Mark, mark, mark . I still have the booster. I bought an RR setup from Tim, Mr fusion and it has most everything. I still need to send it off to Redhead and have the box built. I am not sure what is there, because I put the box, unopened in my garage, in the things to do pile. When I get home I'll check to see what I need and send it off to redhead. I can't wait to see the difference in the steering...Mark

Hey T, I resemble that remark, no really, I resemble it. I like South Park's take on good ole' Caitland, hilarious. I read you entire thread today and it is a really good write up. So, all kidding aside...Mark

When you get to the RR steering I have pics of my fix for the pressure line on the gear in my build thread.

Two things you want to ask them about.

Faster gear ratio.

Removal of internal stops.

The extra bracket you speak of helps with the frame flexing / twisting with the push / pull motion of the steering box.
It doesn't make that plate you cracked any stronger though.

I do have a few extras, PM me if you would like.
Do you still have one of these brackets that you could sell me

Just getting back from the shop where I was helping my neighbor getting some work done on a Dodge 1500 4x4 truck for his daughter.
Yes I still have a few good 4x4 steering plates in the shop.
I will send you a PM here in a moment.
