Need some A518 help asap!

Hi everyone, my truck is in my sig.. basic mods, nothing crazy.

My situation is a strange one though.. my truck has always shifted perfectly, until about 3 days ago. This may be pure coincidence, but the other day i was messing with some wiring and shorted the power wire running to my headunit (stereo).. after that, the tranny started acting up (I didnt think these trannies were controlled by the pcm??).

Anyways, I tried adjusting the TV cable, mic'd up a drill bit to the right size (.180"), and now the truck seems to completely skip 2nd gear if you leave it in D and let it shift itself.

If you shift it manually from the column, it shifts fine from 1 to 2, and doesnt seem to slip while in 2nd gear, but it does flare up between 2 and 3 if you shift manually.

All of my shift point are lower than they used to be, and the fluid has a funny smell to it. It is still cherry red (almost like nyquil) and doesnt smell burnt, just funny (could be the Trans-X Anti-Slip I put in with the last service (maybe 200 miles ago).

Since it doesnt slip in 2nd and this has all of a sudden happened, im inclined to think ive done something with the TV cable wrong.

When I set it, i had the truck at op. temps, and cut it off. Then I put the drillbit though the slide type piece that the cable attaches too, and slid it as far forward as I could until it touched and locked the pawl back down..

Ive read that some folks run thier TV cable all the way forward, touching. All I want is for my tranny to act right again, times are rough right now and i really dont have the money for a rebuild, or another vehicle to take me to work for 2 weeks while it happens..

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Justin
