need a kickdown cable for cummins with 727
 

when i picked up my truck, the kickdown cable was ziptied to the fuel lines. turns out its completely seized at the trans end. would this explain why it feels like mush when it shifts from 2nd to third and that the trans feels like its slipping in 3rd? is there anywhere to buy one of these cables or modify another to work?

Not good to run a 727 with no throttle pressure, you will damage the transmission in short order. I'm pretty sure there is no reproduction cables available for our set-up, maybe Oliver might have one? Try sending him a PM. Other then that I would maybe look at Lokar performance products, they will probably have something that could be made to work.

thats why im trying to find one, so i dont ruin the trans, but i dont know how long it was driven like that before i got it, so it could already need a rebuild. i think i have one on the way though. am i right in the thought that that cable makes the trans provide more holding power for the clutches and the trans would slip less the more the pedal is pushed down due to increased line pressure?

I'm not a auto trans guru...but that is basically the function of the cable. More throttle pressure the trans receives, the firmer and harder it will shift, how the pertains to clutches and line pressures I'm not sure. ;)

you could zip tie the lever all the back and try it should shift at the higher end of rpm range it will tell you if the trany is any good Ken

i actually tried that last night, but i had it about 3/4 of the way back. turns out, a rubber hose on smooth metal transmission lines will not stay attached at those higher pressures. :doh: one more thing to fix from the previous owners screw ups. it did seem to hold much better for the short time it did work though!

i believe i am still in need of a kickdown cable....... think i got scammed. :banghead

I would love to help, but I have handed out all my good 727 kick down cables already.
