need help with a intake idea
ok so i know it has been done, and im looking to do it as well. i want to make a intake manifold like a comon rail design. the cold tube coming off the i/c will feed a say 3 inch pipe runnins the same way as the block and then indavidual pipes coming off that will feed the intake being spaced so the injector lines wll not have to be modified.much like the banks twin ram but with more feeders than just two and less cost. i want to make it all out of alumminum but i would like to find a gasket for the cover to use as a pattern, the one that the heater grid bolts to.know which one i mean? so i dont have to keep pulling mine off to take measurements and such. i dont know what thats called and i guess that would be a good place to start. the whole idea is to provide more cool dense air unrestritively. im trying to gear up to put my new turbo on and i think this would be a nice improvement. any help/input would be awesome!! thanks guys.

Or pull yours off, use it for the pattern to cut your aluminum plate, slide it in and mark where the injector lines are, and stick yours back on. Pull it once and have all the measurements you need. Maybe make a cardboard template of where the injector lines are so that if you lose the markings when you cut you can put them back.
If you take your engine s/n to any Cummins dealer they can punch it in and see exactly what parts are in your engine.

I made a sheet metal intake a while back that uses the stock injection lines...ill see if I can find a pic. Its not tubes like your speaking of but its another option to consider.
