hey guys need some help find a fan roller bearing. dodge part # is 04429639. Can i only get this part from dodge or does anyone have a cross reference # to a napa part. i have been hearing a screeching noise and thought it could be the water pump but grabbed ahold of the fan and i could move it fairly easily so im pretty sure this is the problem but havent gotten it apart. any help appreciated

 

You need a new fan clutch more than likely.

 

The part number for the bearing is in the sticky.

 

well i didnt find the part number in the sticky, but no worries i found it in an old post and can get one shipped to my house for half the the price as the Dodge ******* here in town. The problem i have now is getting the fan off! Ive tried and cant get it off. any suggestions cause its on there pretty good. If you're looking at the motor which way does it turn to come off? i have tried turning the big nut both ways.

 

left-handed threads on the clutch fan nut. i didn't bother with mine since i didn't have a special wrench or a wrench skinny enough to fit between the clutch and the pulley. i just pulled the whole assembly off, bracket and all. although that was all it was for was just removing it, i never did separate the clutch assembly from the pulley at all.

 

The big nut is left-hand thread.

Remove the fan and clutch assembly, leaving the fan-bearing assembly still on the engine, run the engine minus the fan/clutch and see if the screeching goes away.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about that bearing behind the fan. What was I thinking

 

thanks guys hand to go borrow a spanning wrench or whatever its called form napa and that baby came right off. ruined my belt in the process by trying to wedge a screwdriver in between the belt and a pulley, but it was time for a new one anyway so no big deal. fixing to order my bearing from applied.com. price is $72 plus freight and tax, so prob right around $100. still half of what dodge wanted for it

 

Another option is to buy the nearest size larger O.D. bearing that is more commonly available and much less expensive, then have a machine shop mill the housing and possibly sleeve the shaft to make it fit.

We sometimes are cornered into doing this on obsolete stuff.
