At 0:03 you can here a very loud and hollow click.
I actually can hear it every time I take off though also, it's there.

Any clues what it is?

Truck is a 92, Getrag overfilled and just resealed the rear axle.
The gear looked fine, no chunks or bits in the oil and little bit of fine particulate on the magnet.

Any clues?

What ever it is it sounds like it is making a ringing sound through the drive line. It sounds to me like a bad u-joint or loose yoke. maybe the carrier bearing?

Great video!
Past experience for me with a click noise has been a u joint cap that was dry ( full of rust ) while the other 3 caps were lubed

After years of using cheapo greasable u joints done by me , I finally caved a and had a driveshaft company install Spicer non greasable units balancing the shaft, and then I reinstalled. This included me providing them a new dodge carrier bearing. Zero issue since,

Thanks guys, so doesn't sound Clutch, Trans or Axle related?

I'm going to tear the driveshafts out this week and figure it out.

I took this video of the center support. To me it looks like the bottom half of the rubber has crushed or otherwise isn't there anymore. Should it be laying on the metal bracket like this?

Took the drive shaft off the axle yoke and the two caps retained by the axle, one of them rotates freely and the other I can't even get to rotate or remove it. It's gotta be the one clicking.

Not really sure what U Joint I have either.
Dimensions are 4.30" across and the caps are 1.29"
By those measurements a 1410 is too small and a 1480 is too big.

Hmm, even going right to spicer and checking both D250 and D350 brings up this:

Identify Part by Dimension (J300P)

1410 series.

Is this perhaps a cab and chassis truck?

No idea of the original configuration of the truck, I'm probably about the 5th owner or so.

The diff cover does have a date of 02-90 so it can't be original at least.

Going to call my local drive line shop and ask them, take joint off driveshaft today and stop by shop tomorrow.

Ok, that makes more sense, we don't know if it even originally a Dodge axle.

Driveline shop should be able to fix you up. You may want to find the build code on the axle as well, if it is a Dana you can find out all the original parts.

Might save you some grief in the future if you kill a Yoke, etc.....

Agree, it could also just have a different yoke on a regular axle.

This is the cover, but doesn't mean it's from that axle though.

My 90 uses a 1410 on both ends.

Ok disregard my U Joint being a different size.
You'd think a carpenter would be able to measure something but you'd be wrong!

Got the old one out and the cap that I couldn't remove by hand came off with pliers and it's all dry, scored and not a pretty sight.

U Joint says right on it Spicer T1.88, of course this is after cleaning all the grime off.

It's just a normal 1.88x4.25 U Joint.

Thanks for the help though pointing me in the right direction!

For future reference.

On the edge Ring there is an alpha numeric code (IE: g67543) stamped into it.

That code can get any part you want for the differential, as it specs out the build info if it's still original. When I replaced my LSD Clutch pack, they needed that number.
