The Mystery drip...

I know the S.O.P. for tracking down most leaks/drips but this one has me baffled. I am getting a drip (looks like oil) from the from the frontmost passenger corner of the body (not the bumper). As I said it looks like oil, but it is cleaner than my current crankcase oil. It looks like it is coming from under the jack(?), under the radiator overflow tank or maybe under the airbox. AAAARRRGGHH ! Anyone have this problem or maybe a suggestion?

Thanks

Are ya hiding a spare quart of of oil under there somewhere that is leaking?

Tough to diagnose without being there. How high up is the leak first appearing?

Can you smell the oil? Can you at least verify it is engine oil?

Perhaps an AC problem?

spare quart! Good one...

Like I said - it looks like oil (and tastes like oil), but much cleaner than my current engine oil. The highest point I can locate is right under the jack. I know it's hard to diagnose without seeing it, but there is so much combined experience here I was sorta hoping someone else would say "oh yeah, it's the..."

It may be sneaking in from the direction of the radiator (?)

I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm not too experienced with diesels...

I will pop the hood on the truck today and have a look at what could potentially leak in that area. Stay tuned...

I bet it is oil leaking out of the A/C line -- if you have air conditioning, that is.

Well, either its the AC line as asilitch mentioned, or, and this is unlikely, but na..can't be a intercooler line puking oil, that would mean a serious internal problem. Not much else overthere, unless you have something other than coolant in your overflow.

Is it an automatic? If so maybe its a tranny cooler line? Or maybe the jack is leaking. Are they hydralic?
