My new head was delivered today

Today my new head came from pdp and they did a very poor job of crating it up and it had 2 bent valves. So I had to send it back and wait some more for them to fix it and send it back to me. I asked how long it would take to fix and they said the machine shop is very backed up so who knows how much longer my truck will he down. My luck stinks here lately.

Sorry to hear this Bill.

How did you know the valves were bent ? Was it a shipping damage claim, or do you think they were bent before the head was sent to you ???

Got pix.?

I saw the valves bent un the top side of the head. The valve springs were on a 45 degree angle. It is a shipping claim but I just refused the order pdp can deal with it. I can't belive they made a bow out of plywood and just put the head I side and thought tbat would be good enough. There was no packing of any kind and the head wasn't even strapped down or anything.

About $.50 worth of bolts through a plywood base would have prevented it from bouncing around.....

Some companies have a bunch of pineapples working for them.....

He said he guesses they will try to box it better next time lol. A 3 year old could have build a better box. I hope they are better machinists than they are carpenters.

Sorry to hear about your luck. Good luck (no pun) getting it all back together soon.

Bill, sorry to hear about the poor packaging. Glad it was obvious damage and not just a slight tweak that caused problems once everything was installed.

That is a good point there that really would have sucked.

Wow that stinks,

Someone must have known they dropped it, maybe FedEx threw it over your fence.

Ask for it bolted and banded to a 4x12 slab of oak.

I was half tempted to build a crate myself and ship it to them so it will make it here next time

Here is a couple crates I made up to ship some complete 11x3 drums from a 68 Chrysler. Arrived in perfect shape, and took about 30 minutes to build.

Wow, thats a bummer. I recieved my head from PDP the other day, and it was packaged the same. Horrible packaging. However i did not find any damage, guess i got lucky. Mine was not on a 45 degree angle, but it was sitting on the valves.

Onemoparnut 04-14-2013 06:30 AM

Guess you got lucky it was not damaged. You would think that as expensive as a head is they would take a little more care in packaging them.

NJTman 05-10-2013 05:36 AM

SO WHAT is going on ????

Get the head back yet ????

Onemoparnut 05-10-2013 11:36 AM

Still no head they might ship it out today lol...
