First time I did one of those type springs, I was very nervous. A couple under the belt, and they're not so bad. In reality, the spring can't hurt you, as it's wrapped around that bar. It's those 1/2" bars that can kill your day.... or ****.... if not careful.

Best to have a second pair of hands when winding them, but as like myself, it seems you did it alone..... but all football padded up.....lol

Good safety precautions. Still here to joke about them.

They are actually calling for some snow this weekend!!! I will get the building wrap on soon and if the electrical gets done in a timely fashion them maybe I will get some of the siding, lower 2-3 feet would be nice, before things get too cold outside.

Type of siding you installing? Vinyl? Wood? Aluminum?

As far as siding a garage, I love my enameled metal roofing as siding.
It is super rugged, pretty nice looking and goes up FAST!

I'm going with vinyl siding to match the house. If the shop was way off and not close to the house I would probably go with a metal siding but I want it to blend in with the house as much as possible.

since I don't know your work background, just a note to be careful installing vinyl in cold temps. Leaving extra clearance, to allow for expansion come summer months.

But I'm sure you know this

Yeah vinyl gets a tad brittle in the cold.....and yup done a bunch of vinyl siding over the years, but thanks for the advice.

Time for another update.

Got the lower 9 feet wrapped with help from coffeeaddict...



Picked up the first large order for the electrical and have started to lay out receptical box's and lighting locations and run a bit of wire.



Then had a bunch of custom 26 ga tin bent up for the shop, lower trim in black to cover the ridgid insulation on the foundation, trim around the garage doors is in white, and one last area in black to cover the facia boards and also extend down a bit to allow the soffit screens to sit in the same piece. I put 3/8 treated plywood cut in 12" x 8' lengths on the outside of the insulation, then the tin to cover and attach to the shop.....turned out really nice I think

Yesterday I pressure washed the floor of the shop and and today I put 2 coats of sealer on.





Also did a bunch or grading outside and around the shop...back door was below grade and our spring melt and run off would have flowed into the shop most likely, so I had to dig it down about a foot with the skid steer and then grade the area away from the shop and then down towards the ravine....didn't snap of a pic of it but will do that next time I'm out there. Next is hitting the electrical and getting that all finished up.

How much snow do you guys get up there? I noticed on the picture taken from the front of the shop, it is pretty close to the house.
Around here that would turn into a full on snow pile. I can not park anything within about 15-20 foot of the edge of my roof as it turns into a massive pile of snow when the roof slides.

Oliver....you also have a metal roof right? Your snow would slide and sluff off, with ashphalt shingles it mostly stays in place. Last year we got probably 10 feet at the house over the winter....had a solid 6-7 feet on the ground as it packed down.
