Moving Forums - new truck
 

Just wanted to pop in and express appreciation for the forum. The 1st gen folks have been very helpful over the years. Incredible amount of information. I haven't been on much in the last few years as the truck has been running well and I have been busy with life... :)

This past January we purchased a new 2015 3500 CC with the Cummins engine. After the decades of service the old truck gave, I expect the same from the new one. The old truck is not forgotten, just passed down to my son who loves the truck

Well thanks for stopping in and letting us know how things are going. Looks like a nice new truck you got there. And your son is sure lucky to inherit the old 1st Gen. Tell your son to sign up and join us here....;)

Looks pretty stout compared to that girly 2015.

I bought and sold a 2012 after using it for two years. Prefer the old iron. Hope the Computerized DEF burner works well for you. Oh, and don't step on the wheel wells in the bed, they'll dent.

Both nice trucks. I still like the first gen better.[laugh]

I was thinking the kid that gets a mostly likely RUST FREE Utah 1st gen from his dad, is about the coolest thing.
I hope he keeps it forever.

I would love to have an old Dodge that was owned by someone in my family for years before I got it.
The fact that my Dad is into Mini Coopers[dummy], his Sister doesn't drive and nobody else in my family older than me is alive makes it pretty unlikely.

I figure the best I can do is leave my daughter a Mopar that she remembers us wrenching on, taking on trips / car shows and driving in when she was a kid.

Thanks folks. I really like the comments. I knew what I was getting into with the new truck. My"kid" is a mechanic and happens to be 35. Also has an associate's in heavy duty mechanics (diesel). Just the dude to care for the baby. The history of the truck is that it belonged to my father in law until he passed in 98. I drove it since. About 2006 re painted as the original paint was peeling. My son is appreciative of the truck and it will have many good years of use. Of course he had to fight his little sister for it :) Both of them have great memories with their grandfather and I with the truck

With the new truck I do have to use def but it is minor consideration. I don't worry about wheel wells in the bed as the new one is a flatbed also :)

It carries the ATV's nicely as well as tows the camping trailer well. Outside of missing a few rattles and squeaks the thing that is missed the most is the fuel mileage the '91 has over the '14. 18-20 compared to 12-15 on the new truck. Of course the new truck pulls much more effortlessly and has a 52 gal tank.
