Moog 7226S vs Auto store brand
 

So I have been doing some research in preperation for my coil spring replacement. I know that I want to get some Moog 7226S for my 91 D250 but as I am doing research i am noticing that some on the local autopart stores carry front coil springs with similiar numbers ex. FCS7226S at Autozone. Are these the same or different?

The cheapest I have found 7226S online are 130, but Autozone carries these for 107 and wanted to know if they are the same thing.

I am planning on doing both the balljoint in the process of these and probably replace the shocks. What kind of shocks should i get? I have heard of people using Gabriel but wasnt sure if that is good shock or not.

I also forgot to ask when get ball joints, do I get 3000-3300# or 4000# ones?

Look on the door jamb for the front axle size. It will say if i remember 3320 or 3800/4000. The higher number is for 1 - ton front axles. I'm guessing you have the lower number being that it is a D-250. Also check Amazon.com for your rebuild parts. Go to automotive when you pull up Amazon site and navigate. You will find a huge savings for all the suspension parts which are all MOOG which i highly recommend you use. The severe duty springs you want were also listed for less than $100 when i recently checked. You can also get shocks. I strongly suggest you rebuild your complete front end while you are doing ball joints. That means upper bushings with concentric for alignment and lower bushings. torsion bar bushings etc. etc. get my drift. It's so much easier doing it all at once versus a part at a time. Trust me i learned this from my own experience with my crew cab. [duhhh] I now have to go back in and do the rest of the front end including new severe duty springs. [dummy]Replace the upper rubber cup that goes between top of the coil and upper control arm. Look at a breakdown of front end and you will see what i'm talking about. GOOD LUCK !! :cool:

I used Bilstein. Again google shocks and look at all available sites. I found big price differentials between the suppliers.My Bilstein were ordered from a company in California i believe but shipped out of a warehouse right here in North Carolina....! GO FIGURE :o The shipping was free by the way. Hope this helps..... Augie
