Of course, you won't be able to do anything about damage that's already been done. I wouldn't mess with the injectors--those sound like good ones with a better spray pattern than stock.
By that logic my stock 13" clutch should have died long, long ago. They put up with a lot when not driven abusively. For reliability's sake, I'd sooner have the clutch slip, than break the trans, or toss a driveshaft.

Then you probably don't abuse it that much, huh? I still stand by what I wrote--those pump mods plus 190 injectors can easily kill a stock clutch. Whether it's better if the clutch slips vs other driveline damage is completely outside the scope of my post, and this thread, so I'm not sure why you bring that up.

The context of this whole thread is what the OP should be concerned with regarding longevity and reliability--my mention of the power mods and how they might shorten the life of the clutch are entirely valid and relevant.

I dunno... hauling 2 tons of firewood 200 miles at a time... towing trailers carrying other cummins trucks. Coming up on 7 years now. I guess I treat the clutch and trans nice enough to do all that. It's a rough work truck that got its first performance punch with over 300k on the ticker.

IMO, these trucks take considerable mods before reliability is a concern. I don't want he OP to get the idea his truck is 'broken' until all the suggestions in this thread are satisfied. That's all...

Understood, and I do agree with you. My old 1992 W250 had pretty much the same fueling mods plus an HX-35/40 hybrid turbo, and I was able to use that power without trashing the stock auto transmission in that truck. Unfortunately when I sold it, the new owner didn't listen to me about how to drive it to keep from trashing the transmission, and he killed it within four months.
