low pressure fuel pump

can anyone tell me if they have ever observed the workings of the low pressure fuel pump? here is my situation... I can't get fuel up to the filter. After much trial and error I removed the pump and looked inside the housing at the lever. The rod does not move at all. The hand prime is not moving anything that I can see. Is it possible the diaphram or shaft is stuck?

honestly if you already have it off don't worry with the old one just go to napa or your local parts store and get a new and slap on it for about 50 bucks

Thanks for the reply. Already in the process, unfortunately it won't be in 'til Mon. so I figured I'd ask just to satisfy my feelings. Thanks again

Here's a tip that might make your life simpler if you pulled the pump from the top. I found out from this site that it's easier to R&R the pump by pulling the LF tire and working through the fenderwell. Im so dumb I did it twice from the top and never thought of pulling the tire off.

I recently replaced mine...from the top. I used one of those tire steps . I don't know why you'd want to do it thru the fender...changing the pump is maybe a 10 minute job...it would take a lot longer than that just to jack the vehicle and remove the tire.
That's my opinion anyway. Whatever works.

It came out real easy. I also used a small stepladder. I could imagine a 4x4 being a little tough from the top. I was surprised that it just quit without any warning.
Thanks,
Rick
