Smile Low Oil Pressure and High oil pressure...Sometimes

I've got a question about oil pressure on my 1992 Dodge Ram Diesel. I've noticed that the oil pressure gauge needle at idle sits in between the low mark and the second to low mark. At high idle it goes up to the second to low mark. Most of the time it stays about in that area. But some days the gauge goes clear up to normal at idle and a little above normal at high idle. Could it be the sending unit? I plan on buying a oil pres gauge and checking it myself to see. I have not noticed any unusal noise or problems from the cummins engine. Just the gauge has me worried a little. Thanks for the help.

Its just the gauge, i had the same problem a few weeks ago. clean the connections on the sending unit, its under the injector pump. I would reccomend a mechanical gauge.

Mine was cured with a new sending unit. Get it from dodge or cummins, my NAPA sending unit was leaking in under 400 miles.

mine reads high most of the time, and seems higher now than before, like almost in the highest sector on the gauge (no numbers on mine). Around medium at idle warm.
