looks like i need help with this one

well guys i installed my cd player today ( which might have nothing to do with this problem, but i thought i would add) and now when i put on my parking lights or headlights they work fine but after i depress the switch and parking lights stay on, and wont turn off, so af of now the positive battery terminal is unhooked. when i re-attach the positive cable, the lights stay off until i turn them on again and then they wont shut off.

any ideas??

thanks in advance
-Nick

Does the new CD player have a dimmer switch wire? Could be that if it has one and it was hooked up incorrectly.

P.S. Better off to disconnect the ground cable not the Positive. Easier on the electronics. Not that we have much.

I looked out, one night, to see my Ford lit up like Christmas.

I ain't a light leaver-oner kind of person, so I knew something was amiss.

When I finally found it, two wires had gotten themselves melted together, a constant HOT, and a parking-light wire.

It may not have a thing to do with it; but, since you just hooked up the CD machine, run all your connections and see if something is amiss, possibly the dash-light wire, if it has one.

Did you pull the radio fuse to see if it was back-feeding through the new install?

i will do that in class tomorrow, the only thing i did when installing the radio was splice both the constance and ignition on power wires together to one power wire instead of 2. might that have caused anything

With the amperage our trucks draw to start it could damage the finals in your player. Thats why the radio is wired to shut off in the start position I've been told. Best thing is to get a factory adapter for a couple of bucks and wire it correctly. Good luck.
