this look right?

i took a snap shot of my rear lift blocks. do these look right? or are they some home grown setup? what should my total block height be?

That there is a poor mans lift kit. Make sure that thing is tight. Might torque your axle right out of those.

bradshaw106 05-30-2008 06:23 PM

do you have any idea how big the factory lift blocks are? my truck isn't that big

99globalwarmer 05-30-2008 06:23 PM

ohh man thats a ghetto lift. i would watch that rear end and axle wrap.

Richie O 05-30-2008 06:26 PM

Wheel hop the driveshaft right outta there.

Free89W350 05-30-2008 06:28 PM

That defiantly does not look right. I look like a piece of 2" sch 80 square tube to me maybe even a cut off from a receiver hitch (with the hole in it). Plus if I'm seeing the pic right its welded to the spring perch. The block on my W350 measures 6 1/4" from the perch on the rear to the bottom of the leaf pack.

bradshaw106 05-30-2008 07:12 PM

i just measured my get-up from the leafs to the perch is 4" thats quite shorter than yours. what do you think. do the 350s have bigger blocks?

My W250 has a 6" rear block as well.

I would have to say that maybe the previous owner lowered the back or he had the rear springs re-arched and with the factory blocks it was to high so he put in the "home made" blocks.

those are huge!! anyone have a distance between spring to frame rail?
i do know that the truck has newer front springs from stanley springs. tried to email them but they never got back to me

powerrammaster 05-30-2008 08:08 PM

70's thru 93 cab/chassis trucks had 6" block as pictured directly above (dually) 4 wd

70's thru 1991 W150-350 pickups had 3" block 4wd (That's why the front was higher than rear)

1992-3 W250, 350 had same 6" block as above photo. 4wd
( gives the trucks that rake effect)

Can't speak for the 2 wheelers but I believe no block.

The blocks are left and right sided as there is a slight degree of angle for pinion to t-case line up.

Good luck finding them, no aftermarket in 6", if that's what you need, only lift kits with add a blocks which are about as wrong as it gets. None available anymore from dealers, that I found.

bradshaw106 05-30-2008 08:13 PM

my truck sits really good. if i put the bigger blocks it definitely will sit bed high

powerrammaster 05-30-2008 08:18 PM

Well then, measure the distance between the perch that the block is on top of and the bottom of the lowest leaf spring and find a block that is about that height. Or better yet, change out your springs for a pair that will still give the truck the same ride height and eliminate the blocks completely, or lower the back hangers.
