Long trip done!
 

Well our long trip from Commiefornia to Commerce, OK is done. We pulled in Friday evening a bit after dark.

The truck got between 11.5 and 14.5 mpg pulling the 25' Winnebago 5th wheel which is loaded heavily. I drove about 55 mph but I had problems with high EGT's on the hills and sometimes I had to drop down to 3rd gear and craw up to the top. Coming through the desert out of Barstow on I-40 was rough with 105 temps outside. The water temp got all the way over to the peg but it didn't boil over and other than the high EGT's and lack of torque as a result the engine is OK.

I'm trying to determine if I need an intercooler, water/meth injection or both. I have a D.E. 4" exhaust kit which will be going on soon as I get the new garage set up.

I updated my sig to show the new location. Soon as we get the OK tags and license we'll officially be Okies!

Okies? Easy now!! If the cat had kittens in the oven we wouldn’t call em biscuits…….just kidding. Glad you had a safe trip to Oklahoma and got out of Cal. I think there’s quite a few Okies that have relatives in California from back when they traveled out there during the Dust Bowl and Depression. I’ve got relatives out there because of that.

Don't know much about that area of Okieville. It is "drive through" country for me. I lived in Ada for a couple of years. Those people there didn't like outsiders. Dad worked for Sun Oil so that was even worse. If you worked for an oil company in that area good luck finding a place to rent. They've mellowed since then. It was a hard place to make a living for many. My step mom worked for the state in the welfare department. Welfare was the biggest "employer" in the state. Step mom was a Kansas cotton picker when she moved there. She had large parts of her family that moved to California in the Dust Bowl days. A few that settled in Arizona. That part of Oklahoma you moved to IIRC has a lot of greenery. I really like the South Eastern area.

I'd say yes to both. I'd do the intercooler first though with oversized pipes. An upgraded turbo should also be placed on your shopping list along with the H2O/Meth.

Okies are some of the best people I know and I'll be proud to be an Okie myself. I lived in Grove, OK in the 90's and now I have my wife with me here in Commerce. She grew up in Baxter Springs KS which is just a few miles north of here and I grew up in Coffeyville, KS where the Dalton Gang met it's end. So we both know the area well which is why we picked it. We looked at Tucson Phoenix area but the housing is way to high and the commies are moving in from Commiefornia. We just have the Biden refugees from the south to contend with but Oklahoma is a Constitutional Carry state so that don't worry me to much.

I like clean air and being able to work on stuff without some Karen all up in my business. We have a bit of work to do before we can move into the house so we're staying in the 5th wheel for now. If you're in the area you can stop by for coffee. [coffee]

Yeah I figured as much. Then I can turn up the pump and start rolling coal again.

The intercooler alone will help with the EGT's, go with a big 2nd Gen unit on your Non-IC truck You'll might loose 5lbs boost just with all the extra volume, I think I lost at least that going to the big aluminum power stoke intercooler. ;)

Cheap tags!
 

I just got back from the Tag Agent here in Oklahoma. Tags in Commiefornia are almost $300.00 but here in Oklahoma they're $59.00. Insurance is a lot cheaper here also. Going down to get DL tomorrow.

In most boroughs (counties) here, if your vehicle is more than 7 years old you can apply for permanent registration. The cost is $170 which is the same for vehicles over 7 years old in non exempt boroughs, but theirs is for 2 years. Newer vehicles they tax the crap out of you. As for insurance, that ain't cheap here. Got mine through AARP and The Hartford. About half the price or more of any others I've checked.
