I'm sick of my performance clutch type rear, it's like having the brake on the outside tire every time I turn a corner.

I Put A Dana 70 Locker In Mine A Fiew Yrs A Go- Wasnt Much More At The Time So I Went A Head- Being 2 Wheel Drive Thought It Would Help- Dont Think The Jerking When Turning Is Worth The Trade Off- Wish I Had Stayed With Open Rear End - In My Application Any Way !
I Pull A 5th Wheel And Don`t Really Find Any Advantage.
2w Dulie Isnt That Great In Snow And Ice Eaven With Locker- So I Park It In The Winter.

I swapped a Dana 80 into mine several years ago. It was an open dif. I recently had one of the factory limited slips put in. It works well but i do have to be carefull not to get too hard on the throttle unless it is going straight.

I'm guessing a wratcheting type would be more mellow with an automatic than my direct drive...

Hey you could always go with a selectable locker like an air or electric!!

I have heard great things about Detroit, the only thing is they say they are noises when they unlock. I have heard a lot of guys go with True-Tracs front and rear before. I think Eaton makes some good ones as well.

Getting one for myself is a long way off, so what do I know? I can't even pay attention!!

You could always break out the MIG and spool-erize it!!

Thats my .02

D-C out!

I have Dana Power-Loks front and rear. No problems at all. If I hit the pedal too hard around corners the inside tire will spin, but that is it. I went round and round before I changed the diffs, if I should get a true locker or a limited slip. I opted for the LS, with the clutches in a aggresive arrangment. In the front, a true locker is OK, but for me, I would not put one in the rear unless you really do hard core offroad. For some information, go to reiderracing.com and read, some informative stuff there.

I miss my Detroit quite a bit, but, having a 5 speed, I would go with something more subtle like the factory pow-r-lok. I might try the powertrax this summer since I don't want to go through setting up the gears.

The clutches aren't working for me. This is the second rear I have blown up (probably shifting like Ronnie Sox doesn't help ) but the clutches have been very grabby and they cause the rear to run hot. I would think a wratcheting locker would lower the gear oil temps by quite a bit.

personaly i like goin sideways, the look on peoples face when a truck on 38s is blowin threw a turn sideways is priceless. and you just need to learn to drive better if your cryin about alittle side steppin, and when me and my buddys see sum guy doin a one tire fire, all we do is point and laugh, so remember that, when u think ur cool and smokin ur inside tire comin out of a turn, ur really not. so the point of all this is. GET A DETROIT.
