leaky water pump

The owner that had this truck between me and Dieseldude4x4 said he replaced the water pump. It has not quite been a year and I am pretty sure it is a rebuild. The total lack of paint is the clue. The seal is leaking enough I won't drive it and the bearing is feeling a little rough. I have a little time to on my hands while I am working this overtime before I need the truck, so I thought I would order one from the internet.
Where can I get an original eguipment pump for a good price say in a week or less? As you all probably have guessed, I am a bit of a cheap skate except where my trucks dependability is concerned. Besides I want a pump that will last more than a year, if you know what I mean.

The only online discount Cummins parts place I know of is reliablegoods.com. I have heard mixed reviews on these people and have never bought from them myself.

If you want a genuine Cummins pump, I would bite the bullet and call your local Cummins distributor (probably Cummins Mid-Atlantic for you).

When mine went I was in a hurry and got a brand new aftermarket pump from the local heavy truck parts shop. They had it in stock, it has held up for over a year. The impeller looked much more efficient than the Cummins pump I took out.

Thanks for the tip. The previous owner told me tonight that he installed a new pump from Carquest. My friends a NAPA had one on the shelf for 59 bucks so I took a chance and bought it last night. I guess I will put it in this morning. That and a couple of barley pops. It don't look like it will take more than 30 minutes.

Including draining and refilling the cooling system. I wish all water pumps were like a Cummins - just a water pump and not an accessory mounting point.

I put the pump in this morning after work. Started at 0745 and finished cleaning up at 0845. It took longer to loosen the fan than it took to change the pump. The hardest part of the job was remembering how that serpintine belt goes back. That took 20 minutes of fussing tugging and head scratching even with a diagram pasted to the hood. I guess the long hours are taking a toll. Anyway, the pump is in with no drips and only one error. I broke the fan shroud taking it out. I forgot the plastic has gotten brittle and I gave it a real hard ****** to pull it up and all of it didn't want to come at the same time. Broke it at the bottom driver side corner where it fits int the clip. Now I gotta patch that before it comes all to pieces.

I second that. Dodge should never have combined A/C and Non-A/C on the same diagram.

That is encouraging, I have been dealing with them for many years and most of the stuff they have sold me has been good. I just cannot justify $110 or more for a WP when it is available in good or equal quality for half. Anyway I drove it to work last night and everything is back to normal.

Time for a drill a bit and some baling wire to do a frankon stitch on it. my shroud split on top........Im gessing when the moter mount broke causing the fan to brake the shroud!
He frank-n stitched it back to gether he done a go job the still holding to getter real well!

Pulling the fan makes it easier to access the pump but is not necessary.
