leaking injection pump

so, my injector pump started leaking, and i took it all apart and i went down to caterpillar and bought an o-ring that fit the pump head. put it all back together and it ran perfect for a few days, then started leaking again, i have done this before on my old truck and it never leaked again. but the last time they gave me a brown o-ring that cost 12 bucks, it was a really good o-ring. i told the guy at caterpillar i wanted the good o-ring, not the regular black one. but assured me that it was a good one instead of a run of the mill black one, i think he lied to me. because i believe now that the diesel fuel ate it up and made mushka out of it. i dont know how much this o ring cost, but anywasy what im getting at is where can i get just an o-ring for it besides buying a 75 dollar rebuild kit? i know the one that comes in the kit is a green o-ring. what kind of rubber is the oring made of that comes with the rebuild kit? they call it something like buna rubber right?

not sure what kind of material the o-ring is made of but it's some kind that can hold up to diesel fuel. the VE rebuild kit comes with a new o-ring (the big green one) and can be had at a fuel injection shop. the kit's part number is DGK-121 and should only run you about $16.

If it is the trucks in his signature, they are both P-Pumps.
Not sure about the kits on those.

Ya the ve reseal kit I priced was 75 bux, I looked at the cat reciept this time the o ring this time cost <2bux, it wasn't the good stuff and I know diesel eats the regular cat o rings it's strange that the caterpillar guy gave me that cheap o ring when I told him I needed a good one... This is on my ve pump by the way

find a different shop. $75 for a reseal kit is about 5x the price i paid for mine, which was $16. find a bosch dealer and maybe a cummins as a last resort. don't pay $75 for that reseal kit.

ford definitely won't have a clue. look in your local yellow pages under "fuel injection" to find a fuel injection shop. call and ask them if they are a bosch dealer. $59 is still on the very high side for a VE reseal kit. as i stated before, i only paid $16 for mine.
