KDP Question,...

I am killing my KDP while it is on the Motor stand. It is a Cummins Reman with 20K on it. It was bought new in 2000.

The problem is that where the dowl pin is, there is a ridge. It is not flat like what shows in the instructions in the KDP kit that I purchased.

Has anyone run into this? Do I put some washers behind the bolt to bring the tab out 1.4" or so?

Let me know what you think,..?

Darin, I THINK that the ones with a ridge are where folks have been using the coat hanger wire tabs instead of the kit tabs.
I bet WANNA could tell ya if you ask him...

Take a center pump and peen the hole in around the dowel pin. The tab is really meant for the p-pump front covers.

Yep, the KDP kit you have is for a 2nd Gen 12 valve. They are flat while ours have a step.

And while you are in there, loc-tite all the case bolts as mine were finger loose and the KDP was still in deep. The case bolts are more of a problem with 1st Gen 12v the the KDP.

actually , thinking about it, if that is a 2000 motor, I am not sure he needs to worry about the KDP anyways.. but since its open, if you wanted to tab it, it looks like you could use a coat hanger wire tab thru the slot visible between the bolt and the KDP....

The kit I got had the tab bent to fit over the ridge
