KDP- "killer dowel pin"??????????
My truck has approx. 160-170k on it and no engine mods. I have no idea if this has ever been dealt with. How worried should I be and how soon should I fix it. Is there a timeframe for when it falls out?(ie certain mileage? or when you start adding horses/trq?) Hope its not going to fall out too soon. still need to drive this thing and money is short.

It's basically a gamble.. There is no set milage for the thing to fall out it just can on some trucks. Check the sticky and read up on the repair job. Some guys here peen the timing case at 12, 8 and 4 around the pin which is what I'm going to do. It isn't that expensive to do, but you'll need a timing case gasket and a front seal for preventitive maintenance.

I got two cover gaskets and front seals. One gasket for my dad's 95' and one for my 92'. I got them from cummins and they said they are 2 different gaskets. do anybody have which part# goes to which truck? Thanks

I did mine. It was still stuck way in the back @ 160k. But the bolts holding the timing case on were as loose as all get out. About finger tight
I got my front main seal at O'Reilly. It retail at $44 but I got it for about $32. And I still messed it up

I thought I cleaned mine good enough the first time, a week later it was seeping oil due to A) not cleaning it thoroughly and B) forgetting about the RTV gasket goop.
Also if you can, pull the radiator out, I wish I did, would've made life a LOT easier.

The 2 gaskets have a noticeable difference. Was just wondering if anybody had the part# for the first gen gasket so i could differentiate between the two gaskets. Thanks and i plan on pulling the radiators to make life easier. And MHC kenworth suggested using alittle rtv with the gaskets to seal things up good.
