Unbolt the fan assembly from the block as a unit as you would do in a second gen and you don't have to mess with the blasted fan mounting nut. That's how I did mine.

i cut mine off but wasnt gonna use the fan anyway there is a special fan holding tool that is out there. dont mess up the seal and install it dry it is a pita to get in some times but with patience it will go in

I bought the special tools to take it off and still cant get it off might try to remove the entire part next.

put a set of vice grips on the pulley and wedge it against the rest of the engine. then just spin the fan blade backwards. It's super simple
