let me know how you get that 1 1/4 fan nut off I cant budge mine no matter what I try

Unbolt the fan assembly from the block as a unit as you would do in a second gen and you don't have to mess with the blasted fan mounting nut. That's how I did mine.

 

i cut mine off but wasnt gonna use the fan anyway there is a special fan holding tool that is out there. dont mess up the seal and install it dry it is a pita to get in some times but with patience it will go in

I bought the special tools to take it off and still cant get it off might try to remove the entire part next.

 

backwards threads. My 89 came apart real easy. Guess I lucked out.

it was getting ready to fall off

 

put a set of vice grips on the pulley and wedge it against the rest of the engine. then just spin the fan blade backwards. It's super simple
