just curious, if the heat does work in a first gen with CTD?
I know it wasn't worth a crap in my 95 until I installed an aftermarket heater core. the 05 is amazing.
BTW-It was 70* here yesterday.
thanx, crossy

Yes ! You must have a heater core that is stop-up.

crossy 12-19-2006 11:03 PM

no , I'm just asking if the heat systems work decent in these trucks with the Diesel.

Underpsi 12-19-2006 11:25 PM

Once they warm up they seem to work fine, or atleast mine does anyways.

My heat works great, found the best thing to do it put the heat all the way up and put it on vent. I don't do this until the truck is fully warmed up but when it is it will boil me out of the truck in about 5 minutes.

My heater always worked great.

AlK 12-19-2006 11:50 PM

The heater worked great in my former 92 CTD.

MoparMarv 12-19-2006 11:53 PM

works great in my truck. as soon as the guage starts to move its throwing out good heat. I usally have to turn the heat off after its warmed up because even on low it gets to how in there.

Mine works pretty good once I get out on the highway and the rpm's are up but could work better. I know my vacuum operated heater valve leaks by when not in use so maybe I need to change it out. It might not be opening up all the way. I also cleaned a hard hat full of leaves and debris from the air box at the evaporater and that helped air flow a bunch.

yeah , I read that in the stickys and I'm not afraid to cut an inspection door in the cover and prolly need to because this trucks cowl was full of pine needles. at least nothing is rotted. [verymad] dang pine trees.

I've found that the heat works good on my CTDs until about -15*F. After that, without haulin' a load, the engine has a hard time coming up to operating temp and the heat in the cab suffers dramaticly. At -40*~-50* heat in the cab is pretty much non-existant. But that's why they made Carharts right?

NOPE, thats why they made homes with heat :-0 , cause i ain't leaving the friggin house in that weather, well at least until i get hungry for some icecream or need ice for my crown royal or something. [laugh]

thanx guys.

It'll roast me right out of the truck...I insulated everything in the truck as well, under seats, behind seats, headliner, under carpet, doors...helps to keep the heat in.

I put in a higher opening thermostat from a auto parts place. It opens a few degrees later than stock. Warms the truck up that you usually have to open a window on low. Works down to -45 C. Trust me I know. [duhhh]
