John Deere CI Rated Oil

Has anyone tryed the John Deere 15/40 diesel oil in your trucks? I have been told its still ci rated oil as John Deere don,t recomend the cj oil used in any of there diesel equipment. I don,t know if using the cj oil will hurt anything in our older trucks, but i would like to stay with ci oil if i can just in case. Does anyone know who makes the oil for John Deere dealers?
Thanks, Rod

Somebody on here uses it. I've read a thread on it or in a discussion on here. It might have been BearKiller but just don't remember.

I use Deere oil. Have ever since I got my truck. I work at a dealership so I can get it a little cheaper. Its good oil, I would recomend to anyone to use it.
Before Rottela changed to cj, it and the Deere were almost the same oil. The Deere 15w40 plus 50 is rated pretty high on the charts.

I haven't used it yet, but I plan too when I do the next oil change in a few weeks. From what I've read it's good stuff, and I believe as well that it was bearkiller that was running it.

We use it in all 4 of our trucks. Me, my father, and both my brothers.

At Tractor Supply Co. they sell that Traveler Oil that is a CI oil. What do ya'll know about it and is it any good? Cause its $8 a gallon cheap, IIRC. Its what I used last time I changed oil. It says it meets several big manufacturer specs, Cummins being one of them.

I bought a bunch of that tractor supply stuff.IIRC it is made by Citgo, or one of the bigger named co's. I don't do analysis so I can't say how good or bad it is, but I bought it because it was CI.

Where are you guys getting oil for $17/gal? I pay $8.50 for the WalMart cheap stuff (meets the API requirements; good enough for me). Delo/Rotella/ Delvac are around $10 at Wally World.
