Is the IP top gasket reusable

I removed the top of my pump in preparation for the 3200 spring, wondering if the gasket can be reused or am I asking for a leak. It wasn't hard to take apart, just a little time consuming. I was surprised at how tiny the tophat piece was! Thanks for warning me about it flying off.

Why chance it for just $15. Gasket kit is only $15 and you also get a baggy full of goodies. Replace the o-ring on the throttle shaft too while you have the top off.

i've had mine off a couple times and reused the original. But its better to change it unless you don't mind taking it apart again

I understand that there's a bushing on the "throttle" shaft that gets worn and can lead to leaking. How hard is it to replace along with an updated seal/gasket kit? I'm eventually wanting to go to biodiesel and I need to do my KDP so I figured I'd do it all in one fell swoop.

Wanna, what is the proper name for the "throttle" shaft since diesels don't have throttles?

That's what it's called, throttle shaft. The bushing and the shaft itself can get WORN and need replaced. The shaft will develop a groove. It's been awhile since I replaced one, but from my VE exploded view diagram, it shows two o-rings or one oring and a washer around/over the throttle shaft- wet side of the top cover. Replacement is just a matter of removing the top cover. The bushing isn't much, but a replacement throttle shaft is ~$50. I'd try replacing the oring(s) before a new shaft. Or while it's out, inspect for wear/grooves. Bushing is pressed in/out. I'll be doing this fix soon as my new 91.5's top cover is leaking from the throttle shaft .

Thanks guys. I was wanting to be proactive and replace the bushing while the pump was apart.
