IP pump removal?

Hey all, I ordered a tool online that helps with the removal of the VE pump. Well I don't think it will be coming for awhile, anyone have any tips for removing the VE pump from the gear in the timing housing?

A parts store steering wheel puller and two of the bolts from the intake elbow work fine for me.

Sent from my Paranoid Android HD2 using Tapatalk 2.

I wish I would have thought of that. Would have saved me a trip into town the other day when I took my pump off.

I didn't get a change to work on her this weekend, I was way to busy. Hopefully my tool comes in the mail, for $15 should work well. If not I'll just try that steering wheel puller, autozone rents those.

I used an $8 steering wheel puller. It came with several different threaded bolts for different steering wheels. So happens that it came with a set of bolts that actually work so I don't need to use the intake bolts.

Okay, so I have the pump off and I've started to do a reseal. What do people use for paint on these things? Mine is covered in grease and undercoating. I'm going to clean it up and probably hit it with some black paint, I want something to hold and not flake.
