I am putting a IP from another truck onto mine. I'm wondering if I need to do anything with timing the pump? Or do I just make sure the #1 cylinder is on TDC and line the keyway up and line up the marks? (I am going to going to advance it a little bit)

 

Line up your pump key in the slot in the gear. If you have a dial indicator, you can find your true TDC and do it right. If not, just find a good place and try it there. If you dont like it, move it.

sounds like im going to have to do it to mine to, timming is way off, like 2 or three teeth,
iv never done it like this before so you put number one to tdc and the the key for the saft should be at the top to, and if not spin the gear untill it is?

 

If I understand right, the pump drive-shaft key is pointing straight DOWN when the engine is oriented #1-TDC.

Those smarter than me will know for sure.
