Intercooler swap in 91

I have the intercooler from a 92 and my hx35. Ready to put it all in, except the elbow from turbo to intercooler tube. Problem is I dont see where the tubes will route. Also, does core support, radiator, fan shroud, or anything need to swap out? Does anyone have pics or advice on doing the swap on an early 91? I thought the body's be cut for it but no such luck. Thanks in advance.

You'll have to cut holes in the core support for the intercooler tubes.

basically what wanna said, i did a 95 12v swap into my truck and also put an intercooler in. i just had to hack out some big holes in my radiator core support and beat my passengerside fender to make the tubing fit. the intercooler should fit around everything else though. good luck

Do you mean the suction hose for the intercooler tubing?

Do the a/c lines need to be moved at all? They are right in the way on mine, do I just move them?

I removed the bottom bolt holding my coolant bottle to the core support and pulled it out of the way with a ziptie This, of course, all happened after the intercooler boot clamp nearly chaffed a hole in the bottle

Hit a roadblock. My radiator is 32" wide. The inside of the intercooler inlet/outlet tubes are 31 1/2". Would now be a good time to go with a powerstroke or other intercooler?

When I looked into converting mine, There wasn't going to be enough room with the A/C condenser on there still. And I'm sure as heck not giving up my cold air! If you dont have A/C however, it will work.

Youll need the radiator as well yours is too wide. Find someone with a i/c truck that you can look at.

The Powerstroke ICs for the 7.3s around the year 2000 (don't know exact years, mine was claimed to be for a year 2000 model) measure exactly the same 53" on-center as the CTD IC.

Has anyone put one of these in a 91.5 or later CTD yet? I'll be doing it here in another week or so, just curious as to what issues I'll be dealing with, how everything will fit, etc. It looks like I'll probably need to clearance the core support holes a little. Other than that, suppose I'll just have to see when I get to it.

Thanks Dave! I'm also real curious to hear how it affects your EGT and spoolup afterwards. The only thing I'm really worried about is not pushing enough air to keep my boost up with the stock H1C. Maybe nothing to worry about, dunno.

I think you need to upgrade the intake horn/tube and the inlet tube from the turbo to realize much in the way of flow gains. That's assuming the intake and exhaust are free (or better-flowing), as well.

The 32" on your radiator, is that the tubes/core or just the mounting flat metal pieces? After I cut my core support to clear the IC, I also notched/cut the radiator mounts as well. A sawzall works wonders.
