Installed new injectors. Now have major problems.

Tonight I installed some SDX 5x12 injectors in my 93. Everything went really smooth and nothing gave me any trouble installing them. However, it will not run right now. I have bled them several times. The engine is hard to start. Most of the time it will not run unless you hold the pedal down while cranking the engine. Once it does run it misses really bad. When the trans is put in gear it will almost die and run terrible. In park it doesn't sound too bad. I drove it down the road and it misses and has almost no power. I used the new copper washers that were the same thickness as the factory ones. Could that be a problem? I can't figure it out. Help!

Also, when increasing the rpms at in park it has a sputter. I think I might have found my problem. Something else is when cracking the line on injector no. 2 the engine runs better. On no. 2 injector I keep getting alot of bubbles while bleeding it while the others spray fuel like normal. What does this mean?

How did it run before? Did you remove or bend the lines out of the way? Did you specify you wanted VE pop pressures?

Use something to hold the throttle in a position it will run without dieing. One by one, crack each injector line and see which one doesn't cause an RPM drop. If you find one, move it to another cylinder and repeat. If it follows that injector, it's bad.

I agree with Cougar...sounds like a bad injector right out of the box....it happens sometimes.

My grandfather taught me to test spark plugs right out of the box, since occasionally you get a bad one. Had a friend years ago who installed a new ignition system. The car ran like cr@p. I told him to check the plugs, but he laughed at me. He ended up replacing almost every component in the system before he finally found the problem...2 bad plugs!

Speaking of bad plugs, if you ever drop one, dont use it, replace it.
( Thats what i was taught at school )

( you didn't drop an injector I hope)

It ran fine before the injector install. However, the originals had 215,000mi. and I believe they caused the truck to have a slight lope at idle. I didn't drop any of the injectors.

Well folks the truck is running fine now. I cannot explain what the problem was . I went outside the next morning and started the truck up and it still had the miss when I would rev the engine in park. But when I put the trans. in drive everything was fine. I was shocked. Then I put it back in park and it was fine while revving the engine in park. Next I took it for a test drive and it ran perfect. After I returned from the test drive I bled the injectors again and the injector NO. 2 even bled normal. Before while bleeding NO. 2 it would only foam out fuel while the rest would spray fuel like normal. Could there have been trash in one of the injectors causing the problem.

Anyway, I'm glad she is running great now. Thanks for all the helpful advice. As of Friday night I thought I was in for alot of troubleshooting.

Well that's good news. Guess it possible something was stuck in the line, or in the injector....regardless it's working good now so just pretend nothing happened...

sounds like my luck all the time. I fix something, it goes wrong, then fixes itself!

I am very pleased with the added power. I feel I made a good choice on injectors. After driving it the rest of the weekend I found my fuel mpg to be 16.5 at 70mph. I'm sure with a little pump tweaking i can squeeze out a little bit more mpg. As far as I can tell the amount of smoke is the same as my previous setup. Also, I believe the egt's were close to 800 degrees at 70mph in overdrive. I am curious to see what my egt's will be towing.

Was I wise on going with the same thickness copper washers as the stock ones? I wasn't sure what thickness washers to use?

Every once in awhile you will get a injector that doesn't seat correctly either internally or externally, when that happens it actually fills the whole system with foam, the foam is caused by cylinder compression getting thru the injector.
