My friend has a late 93 with a factory second gen head on it. He wants to get a set of POD's or something with more flow. We are assuming a set for a 93 will work. We know the second gens threads are bigger where the lines screw on but we were thinking they were differences in the bottom side too.
I pulled one out of my 92 and they look the same in every way except for the numbers.

Mine has in this order top to bottom

8965
KDAL59P9 7385 245bar
BOSCH 508 @ (circle with a squigly mark in it)
Brasil 877

His has

8965
KDAL59P9 167 245bar
BOSCH 937 @ (circle with a squigly mark in it)
France

Best I can see they both have 6 holes in the tips.
I told him we could ask the guys on Diesel Truck Resource and if anyone would know those guys would.
He and I both would appreciate any help.

Thanks

First gen injectors will work in the second gen head on your friends '93. I've got a '97 head on my '92.

What does that 97 head OFFER that the 92 head did'nt? Is there HP to be gained? Does it flow enough better to reduce egt temp's? Does it bolt right up?

Same bolt pattern for everything, just improved flow characteristics.

I used the '97 head because I needed a o-ringed head, and wanted better airflow. There was a freshly rebuilt '97 head laying around, so I o-ringed that one ahead of time which allowed for a quick swap. I have very little spare time so it was the best way to go.

Thanks Mike,

He wants the POD's. I turned him onto this site so he can do all the research he wants, maybe he will even register.

His head is seeping coolant just below the thermostat (found today as we were gawking under the hood) Not much but a little. Said he could smell antifreeze sometimes but never could find a leak. Probably do that first. O-Reilly's has a head kit for about 50 bucks. Anyone tried them? Said thickness was .061. Truck is pretty much stock except for 4" exhaust,HX 35 and pump screwing. Says hell stop when he get the injectors in and I said yea right, youll stop when you get a divorce or go broke[laugh] [laugh]

Thanks again
Allen
