Question >>> injector return system <<<

Something I have seldom if ever seen discussed here is the little return-lines and collars that connect along the line of injectors.

I never read of anyone giving them a second thought, nor any TECH articles about servicing/repairing them.

Although I can't truly tell for certain, I kind of think a couple of the little collars on one of our trucks are leaking/dripping fuel.

When the engine is idling, I can see a wet shiny ring of fuel sort of vibrating around the bottom perimeter of the collar.

And, those little "pockets" beside the valve-covers and adjacent to the injectors are usually standing full of what I think is fuel.

When parked, almost directly underneath that area will be a wet spot on the ground.

I am not meaning a big fire-hose gusher; just the slightest bit of an occasional drip.

I have no idea if it gets more or less when driving and at speed.

There are little horse shoe shaped washers in there that seal the line to the injectors. I got some genos garage for my truck before.

Tighten up the banjo bolts a little until every thing dries. Something I always recall from my diesel tech classes is my instructor telling us that fittings don't have to be white-knuckled. Just snug them up and if they leak, tighten them until it stops.

Are you meaning those smallish bolt-heads that are down on the side of each "collar" thingie, maybe 8MM heads ??

Thanks.

Yep! 10mm actually. Not sure of the torque spec but I'll bet it's low. I just get them snug with a 10mm wrench.

Thank you kind sir; that sounds like something that isn't above my abilities.

I will get that addressed at the soonest.
