Have you had it apart for a re-seal? I would want to try a complete re-seal first ($25) before investing in a new, or used IP.....you never know.

no havent re sealed it ...i thought when they start doing this the head or something is worn out......when it gets hot it idles down low and if you pour water on it to cool it it will idle right back up.......but now it wont rev right over half throttle ...my truck has close to 700,000 on it

From everything I have read what you describe with the idle usually means a dying IP. BUT....for $25 and a few hours of work I would still want to try a re-seal....maybe it will start working again? Stranger things have happened.

Have you considered having it professionally rebuilt (Industrial Injection etc.)? I have seen rebuilds/exchange advertised between $700-$1100. Better than buying used usually.

if the pump was wore out would it be hard to start.....it still starts easy i have my grid heaters unhooked and still it will fire right up in 20 degree weather it starts easier if you push the throttle down about 1/4 way....it just started acting like it had a dirty fuel filter or water in the fuel cutting out at wot....then it got worse now half throttle is all she wants....

Try US Diesel Parts. Dodge 5.9L VE6 Injection Pumps

I bought my rebuild from them. I sent in my core after I installed the rebuilt pump and they gave me the core charge back. Easy Peasy.

So have you replaced the fuel filter? I would also try and run it on a jug of clean diesel.....perhaps you have a bad tank of fuel, or other issues between the fuel neck and injection pump?

If you are worried about your pump not being charged for extra parts during the rebuild, Edwin's suggestions looks like a good one.

The rebuilt pump I got from US Diesel Parts was setup at TDC so if you follow the instructions in the videos your timing will be perfect. Also the idle was set correctly and the fuel settings were setup for my year truck. The price has gone up a bit since but it is still reasonable. But I also see that Nascar Mark at DieselTuff also does pumps so you should also give him a look.

I've got some seriously bad fuel in the tank right now, like about 40% gasoline. Added a gallon of 2 cycle oil for lube.

Cold, it won't hit hard enough to start. At about 80° engine temp, it pops off like it should, but won't pull much over idle, missing and smoking like crazy. At about 140° it runs almost normal, just a little wimpy. At full warm up, seems to run OK, but won't idle, or start easily.

I'm betting when I get it down to 1/4 tank and top it off with #2, it'll be fine.
