There is a large sealing ring in there between the hydraulic head and the pump housing. Bosch VE seal kit P/N DGK121, big thanks to BGilbert for the part number. Mine sprung a leak in the exact location about a week ago. Kit was $18.80 at my local diesel pump shop. I have an aftermarket kit too, not as good. The chinese kits don't have all the gaskets the Bosch kit has, they do have the seals, o-rings and banjo washers though. Pump will have to be removed to re-seal it...

I had this same problem but lucky for me it has kinda quit for now. I think there is an o-ring in there that causes it to leak. Hope all goes well, Mike

Is this what you need?
I cannot believe how many pumps are suddenly springing leaks now.

Jim,

My guy at the pump shop said he's seeing a huge rash of leaky VE pumps now that we're running ULSD around here. Apparantly, the old seals in these ancient pumps aren't compatible with the stuff. He says new seals are fine though, so after rebuild, there shouldn't be a worry about leaks in the future.

Regards,
Kevin Ayers
