Injection pump mounting studs....
 

Ok, what am I doing wrong here. For as long as I've owned my truck, I have never been able to keep the studs or the nuts tight. On this most recent pump, I cleaned and dried both the studs and the holes in the timing cover and gave them a good dose of loktite upon install. I also loktited the nuts. Both the nuts AND the studs have come loose on two separate occasions in the last 500 miles[verymad] I don't mind keeping an eye on them, but there's got to be a solution....

I have never had a problem like this but I just wanted to ask if the brace on the rear of the pump is still there and tight. If not the pump may be vibrating and causing them to loosen up.

Depending on what you used to clean them with, Somethings leave a rsidue that can interfere with the loctite. The cleaners with the 1.1.1. triclorowhateverthecancercausingnameicantremembero rspell usually won't leave a residue and should provide a good clean surface for the loctite.

Use ether.

This was my thought too.

Greg, you're gonna make me go out and check on mine now:eek:. I've never heard of this happening. But I'm sure it's happened many times before from all of the stories I hear about one of the mounting flange ears being broke off, from the pump moving around.

Thanks for the replies fellas:) The rearward bracket is there and tight. This time around, I lost one of the nuts in the grass and wound up using a flat washer, then a lock washer and finally a locknut on the upper stud that takes all the extetions to get to...and THAT one has stayed put...I may switch the other over to this setup as well.
