My alarm system has LED's flashing at both ends to let bystanders know it is alarmed and should someone get too close while admiring it they will be greeted by 2) 30-watt sirens, every light including headlights flashing including a 130db pain generator in the cab, also includes shock sensors along with the usual starter interupt.

Our nice neighborhood has now become full of gangs and drug dealers.

Dang, I've admired your truck and your write ups but I could never live where/how you do. We don't even lock the house all the time when we leave. The keys stay in the trucks and tractors in case the neighbors need them. I forget how blessed we are here...

Thank you everybody for your input. I ended up replacing the ignition switch but kept the lock cylinder. Didn't start with new switch, so I checked the fuseable links up near the battery, and apparently 2 of them were toast. So I rewired them and the truck starts right up now. Thanks again everyone!

The neighbors across the road from us, five-year-old nice new house, whole bus-full of kids, both working good jobs making plenty of money (which is indeed very rare for this area), never locked their doors; didn't any of them even know what had went with the keys after the doors were installed; numerous vehicles in the garage and driveway with the keys always hanging in the ignition.

She and two of the smaller kids came home a few days ago to find some guy plundering through the bedroom drawers.

He shoved her down and knocked down one of the kids as he fled the scene.

I had told them a few times before that we no longer lived in the 1960s; they are beginning to believe it now.

This is easily accomplished right there at the top end of the big starter-cable.

Taped alongside the cable are two wires, BROWN and PINK; right close to the cable's end should be a plug-connector on those two wires.

MAKE CERTAIN THE TRUCK IS OUT OF GEAR --- NEUTRAL

Un-plug that connector and, using a short "U"-shaped jumper-wire, connect across the two terminals and the engine should crank.

Of course a jumper-wire is also necessary to the fuel-solenoid if it still functions.
My starter works fine with the keyswitch but I would like a backup plan in case of an electronic problem.
I used these instructions to try to jump the starter on my 92 D250 but the starter wouldn't respond. Any ideas why that would happen?

I hate those things. Glad you found your problem.
