GM built much better trucks than Dodge did in the 80s, The GMs also don't have near the wiring issues Dodge has either.
I'd take a 1ton GM up til 91 when the IFS came out.

Ha! I would move to an island where I could walk or ride a bike....
Honestly though, I always love my 05, did she ever haul edit! Much as I hate computers though...

I kind of assume since we are talking about replacing a first gen, we should kind of stick in the same price range?
94-98 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke (OBS)
..or maybe a 94-98 CTD... if I could find one that wasn't beat to death or a virgin one.

I love the sound of a 24 valve, and I do like the look of a 2nd gen. I think I will be looking for one when I finish school, get a job/house, and start stripping the first gen down for a restore.

a dang clean 76-79 ford with the 78-79 grille and a 12 valve p pumper with a nv4500 would be my dream truck. Or i do like the CRs, but it would have to be an 05 or 06. I'd take any really, they all have there pros and cons.

Restoring what?! An already immaculate truck? The bullet wound only adds to the character!

I had a 97 f250hd PS ext cab shorty 4x4 manual that would pull a house off the blocks in low range! Only thing I didn't like was the late spool up on the stock turbo. It had 232,xxx on it when I sold it. Would kinda like to have it back.... with my cummins in it, of course!

I enjoy my '01 24V w/ the NV-4500
Lots of power and comfy leather seats. The adjustable power of the Edge box is sweet. Stock to smokey and fast in a couple of blips on the screen. The Edge w/ the Juice box also has tons of guages , turbo cool down timer, cold starting setting and other saftey stuff built in.
I do miss the old style Dana 60 w/ hubs, an engine bay that has a little room, the vent windows and floor vents and the cab space of my 1st gen crew.
The quad cab rear seats are a little small for my dogs and my daughter.
I would sell the '01 before the crew, if I had to sell one!

I'd have to agree with that 100%. This is the first Dodge I've ever owned. Everything before that has been a GM/Chevy. I LOVE the Cummins but the rest of the truck has issues. I think it's bipolar. That being said, I wouldn't trade it.
