idle hagging up?

lately my idle has been hanging up after i let off the throttle. the entire throttle cable assembly seems to be hanging up. i tried spaying it with wd-40 but it did not help. in the picture below, i can push on where the red arrow is pointing it goes back where it is suppose to. is there a certain spring in the assembly that is worn out? i can not see anything that is binding that would be holding it up.

Check the auto trans cable. The tend to bind and cause problems like you describe.

Might also want to ck the cross shaft that the cable attaches to. My truck had a TON of slop in it so I could see it being possible that it could bind as well. There is a thread on here somewhere regarding it, Wanna even posted the P/N`s for the bushings IIRC.

I've also seen them rusty and sticking. Some polishing and a little lube and things weren't hanging up.
